My business recently received an email from a chinese domain registering company that the trademarked brand name (in the US) is being challenged. Its the exact same as the trademarked name, except with different postfixes instead of .com. My company does business with China, but i’m not sure if this is scam or not. Is there any international governance over Internet Domain Names?

I have a few domain names I paid thousands of dollars for and yet no longer need.

I want to get as much exposure as possible but don’t want to pay 10% like afternic/sedo.

Does anyone have any experience selling domain names and know where to find people who buy them?

The last time I used Western Union to send money (via the web site), I had to undergo a telephone security check and answer a series of questions to verify my identity and intent. In additional to the usual litany of personal information queries about past addresses and mother’s maiden name though, this latest inquisition also included questions about a domain name I’d registered a few years ago.

Has anyone else experienced this or something like it? Are one’s registered Internet domain names now also part of one’s credit history?
