Simple — people don’t trust the .biz TLD because
1) it’s an abbreviation with a non-formal or slang flavor — biz instead of business
2) when .biz was first rolled out, people who couldn’t get ‘legitimate’ names in the .com TLD flocked to .biz to set up lookalike sites on .biz — cocacola.biz and the like. This gave .biz a ‘wild west’ reputation.
Whether it is true or not, people believe that a .com name, which may have been around for 10 or more years, is a better assurance that the business is legitimate.
3) .biz domains have been heavily used by spamming operations.
